    DAF trucks cabin types

    DAF trucks cabin types

We covered extensive topics on how best to evaluate and find information about DAF XF trucks.

    DAF trucks cabin types

The cab is the main working and resting place for truck drivers, therefore, it’s not surprising that truck manufacturers dedicate a significant amount of attention to them. DAF, as a company, is no exception. In order to meet the diverse needs of drivers, the company offers several cabin variants that can be further adapted according to individual preferences.

On the outside, all DAF cabs feature a design with a grille (air vents) decorated with a distinctive DAF logo; place your company name and/or logo under the windscreen; rounded corners, stylish headlights. DAF cabins also boast good aerodynamic features, including adjustable roof deflectors, side fairings with strips, and angular air deflectors with hinges redirecting airflow along the sides of the cabin. Based on their purpose, four types of cabins can be distinguished: Day Cab, Sleeper Cab, Space Cab, and Super Space Cab.

The Day Cab, as the name suggests, is designed for shorter-distance journeys completed within a day. Such cabins can be found in the DAF LF, XD, and CF truck series. Day Cabs are more compact, equipped with all necessary functions for comfort but lack sleeping facilities. These cabins are constructed for easy entry, ensuring excellent visibility and manoeuvrability. With a lower window surround on the driver’s door to further increase safety. In certain series (LF, Fig. 1), there is also the option to choose a slightly larger version – the Extended Day Cab version, providing additional space behind the driver and passenger seats for storage.

Another group of DAF truck cabins is the Sleeper Cab, designed to offer space and a bunk for longer multi-day journeys. These cabins are available, for example, in the LF (Fig. 3) and CF (Fig. 4) series. Typically, these cabins feature a bunk, resting area, storage compartments, and amenities such as climate control and power outlets, allowing the driver to comfortably rest during breaks and overnight stays.

If routes become even more challenging, and journeys extend further, DAF presents the pinnacle of comfort – the Space Cab. It features upper and lower bunks, a wider sleeping area, more storage space, and increased vertical height. With wide steps and larger handles, cleaning the front windshield becomes more convenient and secure. This cabin variant is offered, for example, in the CF (Fig. 5) and XF (Fig. 6) series.

In the CF model, there is also another enhanced Space Cab variant – the Super Space Cab. (Fig. 7). The main differences from a conventional Space Cab are the height of the cab and the thickness and width of the upper bunk. While the lower bunk is consistent in both cabin types, measuring 15 cm in thickness and 81 cm in width, the upper bunk exhibits noticeable variations. In the Space Cab, the distance between the lower and upper bunks is 55.5 cm; the space between the upper bunk and the ceiling is 55 cm, and the bunk itself is 9 cm thick. In contrast, the Super Space Cab features a separation of 81 cm between the lower and upper bunks, a distance of 63 cm from the upper bunk to the ceiling, and a bunk thickness of 100 cm.

DAF offers a wide range of cabs to suit every need. Whether it’s short-distance cargo transport or long-haul international services, DAF cabins are designed to meet the driver’s requirements, offering a functional space for work and rest to ensure comfort, safety, and efficiency in operations.
